Guide · The minerals
What's in an electrolyte: magnesium
Magnesium is one of four electrolyte minerals in a Lula scoop, beside sodium, potassium and calcium. Here is how much there is, and exactly what UK law lets us say about it.
Each Lula scoop has 75 mg of magnesium (as magnesium citrate), which is 20% of the daily reference intake. That is enough to qualify for the UK's authorised magnesium claims, including "Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue." and "Magnesium contributes to electrolyte balance." Lula is the complete amino electrolyte; magnesium is one supporting mineral in it.
- 75 mg magnesium per 6.5 g scoop, 20% NRV. The bar for a claim is 15% NRV.
- Seven authorised magnesium claims apply. We use them word for word.
- No claims are made for the amino acids, sodium, potassium or calcium.
Magnesium among the electrolytes
Electrolyte drinks are built on sodium, the mineral you sweat out most. Potassium, magnesium and calcium sit beside it. In Lula, per 6.5 g scoop, that is 1,000 mg sodium, 250 mg potassium, 75 mg magnesium and 50 mg calcium, plus 1.2 g of amino acids.
Magnesium is found in the body inside cells and in bone, and it is a cofactor in a great many enzyme reactions. In sweat, it is lost in much smaller amounts than sodium. That is why it is a supporting mineral in an electrolyte, not the headline.
| Mineral | Per scoop | % NRV | Can it carry a health claim in Lula? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Magnesium | 75 mg | 20% | Yes. At or above 15% NRV |
| Sodium | 1,000 mg | 42% | No. Sodium has no positive authorised claims |
| Potassium | 250 mg | 13% | No. Below the 15% NRV bar |
| Calcium | 50 mg | 6% | No. Below the 15% NRV bar |
NRV: nutrient reference value. The magnesium NRV is 375 mg. A food supplement can use an authorised claim for a vitamin or mineral when a serving gives at least 15% of its NRV.
What UK law lets us say about magnesium
Because one scoop gives 20% of the magnesium NRV, Lula qualifies for the GB authorised health claims for magnesium. They describe magnesium, not a Lula clinical study, and we use them exactly as written, always naming magnesium. They are the small print below.
The tiredness line is the one people search for most. We use it word for word and never add "boosts", "fixes", "all-day" or "fast", because the law does not allow us to.
Busy weeks and training blocks leave plenty of people feeling worn. That is ordinary life, not a diagnosis. If tiredness is persistent or unexplained, see your GP: a food supplement is not the answer to that.

What Lula cannot claim
- Anything beyond the seven sentences above, or any rewording that adds meaning.
- "Boosts energy". The authorised energy-related line is "Magnesium contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism."
- Any claim for taurine, glycine or alanine. They have no authorised health claims at any dose.
- Any claim for sodium, potassium or calcium at Lula's doses.
- Any cellular effect. "Cellular Hydration" is the product name on the jar.
Where else magnesium comes from
Food is the main source of magnesium for most people. Green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds, wholegrains, beans and pulses all contribute. A varied, balanced diet comes first. A scoop of Lula is a small, measured addition on active days, not a replacement for meals.

Are electrolytes with magnesium better?
We do not make that claim. Magnesium is one of four electrolyte minerals in Lula. The authorised wording is: "Magnesium contributes to electrolyte balance."
Is Lula a magnesium supplement?
No. Lula is the complete amino electrolyte. Magnesium is one supporting mineral, beside sodium, potassium and calcium and 1.2 g of amino acids.
What form of magnesium is in Lula?
Magnesium citrate.
Can Lula say it boosts energy?
No. The authorised wording is: "Magnesium contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism."
Do the amino acids reduce tiredness?
